Love this item. Easy to work with and can provided the consistent environment for my doughs as I hoped for. I love both the Goldie and the Doughbed. Will make baking sourdough bread so much easier than before
Thanks soo much Annette!
The DoughBed and my Goldie were a 75th birthday present for myself:-) I am currently in bulk fermentation with my second sourdough loaves. What impresses me most, is being able to see my dough get to peak fermentation; making the dough right in that wonderful bowl and easy-peasy folding.I could go on. The consistent temperature is so helpful. This thing will be a game changer this winter. I absolutely LOVE it. PS: I learned about SourHouse in a NYT article and had to have it.
You made our day Jocelyn! Thanks for making a home for Goldie and DoughBed in your kitchen!
Warmly,
Erik
its fine, but i thought it would be amazing and its just fine.
I didnt like that it didnt come with a plug, i had to scour the house and take one from something else.
i dont like there is no on and off button
i dont like you can't see exactly what the temperature is. they say its a range, but i can't tell on the high or low end of that range.
i dont think its that easy to see though the glass to check on it with the large bamboo lid
its really too large for the one loaf i make per week. so i have to store a large glass bowl, the lid, the base and clean the too large bowl.
i wish my husband would have not thrown the packaging away or i would have shipped this back and stayed with my $40 warming box from big box internet seller.
i hope this works amazing for other bakers, its just not my default go-to and it was really really expensive for a bowl, lid and warmer. :(
I've used this twice so far and love how it gives a consistent rise if I use the same recipe and time. The low oval mixing bowl took a little bit of getting used to after using a taller round bowl all these years, but it definitely makes coil folds super easy to do! I know this will be awesome during the winter months when my kitchen temperature is a lot lower.
Thanks Joy! So glad to hear you are enjoying DoughBed.
The DoughBed is brilliant. I have tried warming my dough in the oven with the light off but had to check on it all the time to make sure it wasn’t getting too warm. Rather than heat up my entire drafty house and incur astronomic utility costs, I can now coddle my sourdough at the optimal temperature for a successful bulk fermentation without breaking the bank. The DoughBed ends up paying for itself! The design of this appliance is staggeringly beautiful. With the temperature variable eliminated, my sourdough achieves consistent results. I am in love with my DoughBed! Thank you for creating it and bringing it to market under challenging economic conditions.
